WHY EL-AMIN ALUMNI?

Since the early days after the graduation of students from El-Amin International School, Minna, many of us have carried a deep desire to stay connected to keep in touch with old friends and to relive the fond memories we shared during our time at El-Amin.

The need for a united community of ex-students cannot be overstated. This vision was shared by the former First Lady and Proprietress of the school, the late Dr. Mrs. Maryam Babangida, who recognized the importance of an alumni body as far back as 2005, when the first set of graduates were just completing their higher education.

The formation of the El-Amin Alumni Association stems from this shared desire:
to create a platform where old students can reunite, engage with the school, and continue to exchange ideas, values, and aspirations inspired by our Alma Mater.

GENESIS OF ELAA

The El-Amin Alumni Association (ELAA) was born from the vision of the late Dr. Mrs. Maryam Babangida. During the school’s Tenth Anniversary celebration, she expressed her desire for an organized body that would unite former students and preserve the values of the El-Amin community.

She met with the ex-students present, shared her dream for the association, and even presented a Draft Constitution to guide its creation. With her support providing secretarial assistance and facilitating initial deliberations and elections the foundation for ELAA was firmly laid.

By the end of the celebration, the first Executive Officers had been inaugurated, marking the official beginning of the alumni association.Today, we honour her foresight and remain grateful for the vision that brought ELAA to life.

The passing of our beloved former First Lady and Proprietress, late Dr. Mrs. Maryam Babangida has strengthened our resolve to reconnect as a community and uphold the legacy she built. Her memory continues to inspire unity, purpose, and renewed commitment among El-Amin alumni.

The Association is now fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and our official bank account has been established in line with our Constitution. The alumni website is live and undergoing final updates ahead of its formal launch at the 2025 AGM, where it will serve as a central platform for registration, communication, and engagement.

We have also deepened our relationship with the school and our Patrons through formal engagements with our Grand Patron, His Excellency General I.B. Babangida GCFR; His Royal Highness the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Muhammad Babangida; and the school’s leadership. These steps reflect our commitment to building a strong, active, and united alumni community.
