WHY EL-AMIN ALUMNI
In the days since the graduation of members from El Amin International, Minna, some of us have had harbored the desire to be and stay in touch with our friends from school, relive fond memories of our times together in El Amin.

The need for the ex-students of El-Amin International School to come together cannot be over-emphasized. This much can be attested to by the foresight and personal commitment of the former First Lady and Proprietress, the late Dr Mrs. Maryam Babangida who felt the need for such an association as early as 2005 when the first set of graduands were just leaving their respective institutions of higher learning.

El-Amin Alumni has the reasons for formation in our wish to be the forum for the reunion of old students and the school in order to foster exchange of ideas, values and dreams of the Alma mater
WHERE ARE WE?
In the days since the passing the former First Lady and Proprietress of our alma mater, ex-students have found the renewed to identify better with one another, with the school and with the Babangida Family. In identifying with each other we share in the grief of the passing of a very dear mother and share the memories of all that she was to us individually. Ex-students are also unanimous in the resolve to keep these memories alive in the best way that we can.
The Association is now duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). A bank account has been opened with Guaranty Trust Bank pie in line with the provisions of our Constitution. All of these forms a part of the critical steps we are taking to ensure that our association is one prepared to achieve our set out aims and objectives.
Several of us are currently unable to partake physically in the meetings and activities of the Association requiring either their presence or input. This is because of school or work schedules either in Nigeria or abroad. We intend to bring in and retain the active participation of such members through the El Amin Alumni website. A test run is being conducted on the website and it is expected to come up fully in the next month for members to begin registration.

A durable line of communication continues with the Alma mater to enable mutual benefit from the synergy that will result therefrom. As part of these processes also, we have made formal presentations to our Grand Patron His Excellency, General I. B. Babangida GCFR. His Royal Highness the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Muhammad Babangida and the Principal of the alma mater who currently complete the Board of Patrons have received similar visits on the activities of the Association. Efforts are now being made to visit, His Excellency the Chief Servant of Niger State as nominated by the late Proprietress of the alma mater for the position of member of Board of Patron.
WHERE DO WE WANT TO BE?
The El-Amin Alumni is currently in its formative stages. The Current Executive Committee, which coincidentally is the first, appreciates the need for a sound foundation for El-Amin Alumni and will strive very hard, with the support of the Patrons and members to achieve same.

It will be a virile platform for the purpose of interaction among its members to advance the goals of the association and the alma mater. We will work very hard to develop and consolidate a mechanism that will be a vehicle for the infrastructural development of the alma mater.

We will be that Association that will be the envy of all that are like us and/or wish to be like us. A close circle of friendship aimed at looking out for and protecting the interest of members, will be developed in a way that improves upon the well being and development of members.

The Association will be one that identifies and reconnect with our Alma mater in a way that enables us to give back in close collaboration with the authorities of the school. In so doing, the basis for our coming together and the interest Alma mater will be of great consideration.
This Association will very vigorously initiate and partake in activities aimed at keeping the vision and memories of the late Dr Mrs. Maryam Babangida alive. This is a critical programme of the Association and there is no doubt that members, our patrons and the Alma mater will give all the necessary support to ensure that her vision and wishes for us and the Alma mater are realized.
HOW DO WE GET THERE?
The Executive Committee of El Amin Alumni intends to deliver on the above vision for the Association through a combination of initiative and activities.
These activities include but are not limited to:
• Career Talks and interaction with students of the school, aimed at motivating them towards their ambitions and aiding their career choices.
• Alumni Prize: to encourage better competition and academic excellence, the Alumni Association will work with the school to initiate and sustain a yearly Prize for Academic Excellence for the Best Graduating Student of the School.
• Proprietor's Day/ Dr. Maryam Babangida Day aimed at renewing, retelling and keeping the memories of the late First Lady alive, especially as she touched our lives in El Amin International School. It will be a basis for display and appreciation of her works and achievements.
We are open to working with other associations and individuals with these same objectives. We look forward especially, to the inauguration of a Maryam Babangida Foundation.
• Endowment Fund for the attainment of the aims of the association. We will do this through various methods of fund raising.
• School Sports activities: the Association will provide support for the sports activities of the School. A demonstration of this is the sponsorship of Cup to be competed for by the students in any sport of choice by the Management of the School
• Charity: Support for the less privileged members of the society has a place in the heart of the members of the association and as often as we can,we will be out there with various platforms for the engagement of these members of the society
• An Alumni Night aimed at increasing the bonds between members ad advancing the interest of the Association. Members who have made major achievements in their field of endeavor or elsewhere will be recognized at this event. We will also recognize the support of our Patrons and parents during the course of this event.

In conclusion, the El-Amin Alumni has very bright prospects and there are no limits to what we can achieve and with the support of all we will be the envy of all. It is this support that we are now about to call on; that we may attain the heights the Association was conceived to be at.
